Clothes Shopping Demons

March 22nd, 2008 at 02:11 pm

I am going through a major withdrawal! There are so many cute clothes this season that I have an urgent need to spend. I gave my credit card to my husband to lock away. I know this sounds weak but I can't resist the call of new clothes! I went through my closet to remind myself that I have plenty of outfits that I haven't worn yet. I coordinated different looks using my existing clothes for the spring and summer season. I found new uses to my belts, scarves and costume jewelry giving my clothes an updated look. The spending urge is slowly passing but I need to stay away from magazine and TV ads. I don't dare go to a mall or boutique! I am so weak but I noted that I haven't brought any new outfits in 2 months!

Hehehe ... I'm having clothes shopping demons of my own, but exactly the opposite kind! I recently relocated to a different climate and also recently got a new job. I realized I really ought to get some new clothes, but I don't care much for clothes shopping and am not a fan of spending $ on something I'm not so wild about, but I still feel the need to shop around and find the best deal. So I went through my wardrobe and figured out the minimum of what I need to have as pretty much a bare minimum, like you taking the mix & match approach, so that I don't look like I'm wearing the same outfit every day:
    - 2-3 tank tops (to wear under other shirts)
    - 1-2 pairs of pants (jeans & perhaps one other)
    - 1 or 2 pairs of shoes (casual flats, and perhaps a pair of Kedlike sneakers)
    - hoodie or other casual jacket

Now I just have to find a way to motivate myself to drag myself off to a couple stores!

Say ... wanna shop for me? LOL

that is why I love the thrift shop. Wait a few months and you can pick it all up for pennies. Wink

I second the thrift shop. I've found lots of name brand recent season clothes there-- including items from my favorite stores Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft.

Wow!!! I love Ann Taylor clothes! Thanks for the great advice. I will wait a few months and go to the thrift stores to shop with a spending plan of $150!

yes I love thrift shops and now that I have learned to budget my weight (gone from 200+ to Under 130)along with my money and am very small its a extra delight all the really cute clothes at the thrift stores in tiny sizes.

I had to add too I tend to be picky and primarily buy new with tags. But it is so amazing what is out there.

Clothing is my downfall. I hadn't hit the thrift shops much lately (often time consuming) but I have been thinking about it this year. I know I will probably save a lot of money taking the time and effort. Which I feel I have more time lately. Of course it helps to live in certain areas - we have thrift shops out the ears. PRobably more new stuff than usual with the economy of late.

I hate to shop, so I was just digging around to find something decent to wear to church tomorrow. Came up with a linen tank and matching blouse, scarf and black Liz Claiborne pants. One of maybe three decent outfits I own, otherwise, it's jeans and T-shirts!
